Black recycled asphalt, ground to varied sizes, that binds into a firm surface when compacted and warmed by the sun. Sold by the ton.

Plan your Asphalt Millings order

Measure the area, set the depth, and we turn it into a load size in tons. If you already have a number, set it in the order box.

How deep? A top layer on a walkway runs about 2 inches. Parking pads and driveways usually take 4 to 6. Trenches and backfill often go a foot or deeper.

About Asphalt Millings

Asphalt Millings are black pieces of reclaimed pavement, ground to a mix of sizes. The leftover tar in them softens in warm weather and helps the pieces glue together once packed.

Where they are used

  • Driveways and private lanes
  • Parking areas on farms and lots
  • Patching potholes and ruts
  • Base for a future paved surface

Surfacing guide

Compact in layers of two to three inches, ideally on a warm day. A pass with a roller after the sun has warmed the surface seals it nicely. Millings can leave marks on bare feet and tires in the heat of summer.

Millings are rough at first and smooth out after traffic and heat. They do not need sealing to function, although sealing helps after a season or two. Because they are black, they can warm up quickly in the sun, which is part of how they harden.

Asphalt Millings are sold by the ton, with at least 2 tons per order. Your delivered price shows up after you enter your ZIP code.

How to install Asphalt Millings

  1. 1
    Verify spec

Confirm the millings/concrete meets your local DOT or municipal spec for the application.

  2. 2
    Spread in lifts

2-3" lifts compact best; recycled material has less binding than virgin aggregate.

  3. 3
    Compact warm if possible

Asphalt millings compact tighter when ambient temps are 60°F+.

  4. 4
    Seal optional

Tack coat or seal coat extends life dramatically for recycled asphalt driveways.

Six tons for a parking pad next to the shop. The millings pack down hard once they get some sun and a few passes with the plate compactor, and the black color looks sharp against the building. Only knock is the load had more fine dust than I expected, so the first week was a little messy on boots and tires. Would order again.

  2. Curtis P.

I do small grading jobs and ordered 20 tons of asphalt millings for a client's rural driveway approach. Consistent grind, not a lot of oversized chunks, and it rolled out smooth with the skid steer. Client loves that it does not track gravel into the garage. Got a text with the ETA that morning and the driver was easy to work with.

  3. Hank W.

We ordered 12 tons of asphalt millings for a 200 foot gravel driveway that washed out every spring. Spread it with the tractor box blade, ran the truck over it a few times, and after two hot weeks it has tightened up almost like pavement. Driver called about twenty minutes out and backed right up to where I had the stakes set. No more ruts so far.
