Red Mulch is shredded wood colored a deep brick red. The strands knit together on the surface, so it stays put on slopes and holds its shape better than loose chips.

Application tip
Clear weeds first, then spread two to three inches and leave a gap around trunks. Colors look strongest on fresh mulch and mellow with sun and rain, so a light top-up in spring keeps the shade even.
Dyed mulch fades slowly, and the color will vary a little from one load to another, so order what you need for the whole bed at once. Used around dark-green evergreens, the red stands out clearly. It breaks down over time and feeds the soil underneath.

The color is exactly what we wanted around the play area and the beds by the shed, and 4 yards covered it with some to spare. It spread fine with a rake. Just a heads up that fresh red mulch will leave some dye on your gloves and the wheelbarrow for the first day, so wear old clothes. Nice driver, careful drop at the curb.

Went with 3 yards of red mulch for the beds out front and along the walk to the door. The red is bold but not neon, and it looks great with the white trim and the green boxwoods. Spread smooth and stayed in place through a couple of thunderstorms. Driver called ahead and dropped it right where I had the tarp down.

Second season using this red mulch on the beds around the pool. Two yards was plenty for a top up and it matched the old layer almost perfectly after a week of sun. No weird chemical smell, just wood. Quick and clean delivery, pile landed on the driveway right by the gate.
